Dates (khajur)
Fast sugar with fibre attached, which is what makes it steadier than a sweet.
Wellness
Glucose, vitamins, fruit juice and good food for a day that does not run out halfway.
Tiredness is the most common complaint in general practice and the one most often self-treated with the wrong thing. Before reaching for glucose powder, it is worth asking what kind of tired you are.
Short sleep is the commonest by a distance, and nothing on a shop shelf fixes it. Poor fuel - skipping breakfast, then a large plate of refined carbohydrate at lunch - produces an afternoon slump on schedule. Deconditioning: the less you move, the less stamina you have, and it compounds quietly over years. A medical cause - anaemia, thyroid trouble, diabetes, depression, sleep apnoea - which no amount of fruit juice will touch.
Regular aerobic movement, built slowly. Iron and B12 at adequate levels, which for many Indian vegetarians means getting them checked rather than assumed. Meals that combine carbohydrate with protein and fat, so energy arrives steadily instead of in a spike and a crash. And sleep, again, because it is always sleep.
Tiredness that is new, severe, or getting worse - especially with breathlessness, weight loss, or a racing heart - is a reason to see a doctor and ask for blood tests. Persistent unexplained fatigue is a symptom, not a personality trait.
